Tony Blankley, Executive VP with a public relations firm in Washington, D.C, senior fellow in National Security Communications at Heritage,author and contributor to various news programs and publications. He served as Speaker Newt Gingrich’s press secretary for seven years, and prior to that was President Reagan’s speechwriter and policy analyst. Before coming to Washington, Mr. Blankley served for ten years as a prosecutor with the California Attorney General’s office. In reference to an article by Fox News titled “Obama issues government shutdown threat,…and…(because the Democrats failed to pass a budget last year, the responsibility falls to Obama for any potential government shutdown…)” Mr. Blankley discusses the difference in the “showdown” with President Clinton in 1995. Although there are a few similarities, the times were different: no Fox News, no internet…and back then, the message could not get out.
