Nancy Maldonado, CEO of the Chicano Federation of San Diego County, is joined by Federation Board Member, Mimi McLennan, to discuss the Federation’s 50 years of service to the region, highlighted by the 50th Anniversary Ball slated for Saturday, May 11 at the venerable U.S. Grant Hotel. Maldonado and McLennan, who is a Vice President and District Manager at Comerica Bank, talk about the Federation’s programs that are focused on serving under-served diverse communities in San Diego County.

Cheryl Hibbeln, Executive Director of School Innovation and Integration Services Youth Services for the San Diego Unified School District, is joined by the leadership of three San Diego community colleges to discuss the exploding impact of college and career pathways at the high school and college level. Hibbeln is joined by Pamela Luster, President of San Diego Mesa College; Adrian Gonzales, Vice President for Student Services for San Diego Miramar College; and Tillie Chavez, Vice President of Instruction for San Diego City College. All four education leaders talk about the partnership between the school district and the community colleges to provide college courses for high school students; certificates for high school students leading to college level work; and the alignment of career exploration with high school and college coursework.
