Cheri Rae is the director of The Dyslexia Project, which has the mission of providing community awareness, support, and action to address the wide-ranging effects of dyslexia and low literacy. She is also the author of DyslexiaLand: A Field Guide for Parents of Children and Dyslexia. Cheri’s work has resulted in a well-known source for information, and resource for parents in the Santa Barbara community who need help advocating for children who are dyslexic. Cheri’s story, as the parent of a child with dyslexia, gives us insight into how our methods of teaching reading are flawed, how schools are often under-equipped to help, and what we can do to make change happen.
