It's 95 degrees in Dallas, and the ice storm that accompanied Cynthia Gartman, President and Chief Operating Officer for County Place Living on her last visit to The Franchise Show seems to have finally blown through. Country Place Living has redefined senior living in rural and suburban America. The company offers two concepts for franchising: Country Place Senior Living, an 18-apartment assisted living residence, and Country Place Home Plus, an 8-bedroom group home residence. With corporate-owned locations and franchised locations already in place, the company plans to expand to more than 400 residences across the country. Prior to joining Country Place, Cynthia served as a senior franchise consultant with the IFranchise group where she advised new and growing franchise systems. She also served as senior director of franchise support services for Accor North America, responsible for franchise administration, management and development for a number of national hotel brands. Cynthia is active on several committees within the International Franchise Association (IFA) including the Institute of Certified Franchise Executives board of governors, minorities in franchising, and is a women’s franchise committee mentor. In addition, Cynthia founded the Mediation Council, Inc. and served as a board of director’s member for four years. She received a bachelor’s degree in English and French from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. An acclaimed speaker and writer in the area of franchising and diversity in the workplace, Cynthia has published articles in publications such as Franchising World magazine and Franchise Times magazine.

Join David Sussman & Brent Kahlen of Valcor Arbitration Services for a discussion about the ripple effects behind such headline stories as the bankruptcy of Chrysler and GM on smaller business units across the country that face their own set of financial strains in the aftermath. Valcor trains business executives in a specialized area of consulting called “business debt restructuring and mediation”. Licensees provide solutions to local businesses’ financial challenges including debt disputes, short cash flow positions and necessary restructuring. Valcor focuses on small to medium sized businesses (95% of all companies Nationwide). Due to the challenges in today’s economy, the Valcor services are now in more demand than ever before and Valcor is training new Licensees to operate their own Business Debt Restructuring and Mediation business. Between Valcor and their Trained Licensees, they have saved literally thousands of businesses throughout North America and the United Kingdom. Valcor was listed in the Entrepreneur Top 100 Franchises & Business Opportunities for several years and has been mentioned in several media outlets such as the Chicago Sun Times, Los Angeles Times, and Denver Post. Valcors’ consultants have reported substantial income levels, and the satisfaction of being able to help local businesses survive. Thank you, David and Brent for this very topical and insightful session.
