Go Navy Remote Broadcast on The U.S.S. Ronald Reagan, CVN 76
"Go Navy Radio" will broadcast a live
remote on Wednesday, December 21st, 3-5 PM Pacific time from the San Diego
based Aircraft Carrier, U.S.S. Ronald Reagan.
Co-Hosted by wsRadio President Chris Murch, a former
Captain, USMC, who by no coincidence is a 1983 Graduate of the Naval Academy,
while the main host is George Watt, Class of 1973 and President and CEO of the
U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation. This past summer the
show received tremendous traffic from the parents of the incoming class of
2009, when Go Navy Radio featured a special "Plebe Summer" broadcast. The
parents tuned in to hear first hand from the Officers and Senior Midshipman
who were going to be training their sons and daughters during the very
challenging first 60 days at the Naval Academy. Other notable guests have
included one of Americas' greatest Entrepreneurs and former Presidential
Candidate, H. Ross Perot, Class of 1953 and Heisman Trophy Winner and the only
Naval Academy graduate to be inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame, Roger
Staubach, Class of 1965. Mr. Perot talked about his challenges of earning an
appointment to the Naval Academy where his perseverance prevailed and how as a
Midshipman he helped to create the modern "Honor Code." Last month, the
senior midshipman, Brigade Commander, Midshipman Captain Cliff Adams, Class of
2006, guaranteed a victory over West Point in the classic "Army-Navy" Football
game. Although the West Point Cadets played a great game they were outmatched
by the Poinsettia Bowl Bound, currently 7-4 Midshipman. One of the main
reasons for the special remote broadcast aboard the U.S.S. Ronald Reagan is to
"Charge Up" the Navy Faithful when Navy takes on Colorado State for the
Inaugural Poinsettia Bowl sponsored by the San Diego County Credit Union to be
held at QUALCOMM Stadium in San Diego on Thursday, December 22nd. Chris Murch
proudly stated "San Diego is a great Navy and Marine Corps City. We look
forward to making the Poinsettia Bowl practically a home game for the team."
The previous "Go Navy Radio" broadcasts have helped spread the word with over
20,000 tickets to the game sold through Navy, reportedly more than
4 times that of Colorado State.
