Michael “Nick” Nichols, a native of Alabama, is an award-winning photographer whose work has taken him to the most remote corners of the world. He became a staff photographer for the National Geographic Society in 1996 and was named editor at large in January 2008. He has photographed 25 stories for National Geographic magazine, most recently breaking new ground in his photography of “The Tallest Trees,” the Redwoods, for National Geographic’s October 2009 cover story. He is also featured in National Geographic Channel’s “Explorer: Climbing Redwood Giants.” Getting the photo took almost a year of conceptualizing and planning, and it could never have happened without recent innovations in digital photography.

Dubbed "The Indiana Jones of Photography" by Paris Match, Nichols has been featured in Rolling Stone, Life, Aperture, American Photographer and many other magazines. He has won first prize four times for nature and environment stories in the World Press Photo competition. His other numerous awards come from the Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Pictures of the Year International competitions. In 1982 the Overseas Press Club of America granted him a prize for reporting “above and beyond the call of duty,” an honor usually reserved for combat photographers.

Clive Lipkin: For thirty five years, I ran a broad gamut of Fleet Street as a photographer with the Daily Express, The Sketch, The Sun and Daily Mail, while feature writing for The Sunday Times and The Observer. In 1972, my book, ‘The Battle of Bogside,’ (published by Penguin), showing three years of fighting in Northern Ireland won the Robert Capa Gold Medal from Life magazine ‘for superlative photography requiring exceptional courage and enterprise abroad.’ (My photograph of the first topless girl to appear in The Sun, however, has failed to receive any official recognition). After becoming Travel Editor of ‘A La Carte’ magazine, I left Fleet Street to concentrate on travel photography and writing. feature writing appeared in The Sunday Times, The Observer, Daily Mail and A La Carte magazine before I concentrated on full-time travel writing. Here are extracts from those writings covering the past thirty years, including my books ‘Talk to me, America’ and my autobiography, ‘Lost in the Reptile House’. The Man Who Boiled His Garden - from ‘Lost in the Reptile House’ Halifax, Yorkshire. September 1st, 2001 Returning to Drink After Six Years of Abstinence - from ‘Lost in the Reptile House’

Diana De Rosa is a veteran equestrian photo journalist, who has traveled the world and has recorded equestrian history for almost 30 years. A former rider herself, De Rosa understands the horse world from many different angles. A language major in college, De Rosa went on to run a riding school, and then started an equine magazine called Horse World USA for which she was editor for 13 years. She now owns her own PR firm called Press Link and continues as a journalist (both a writer and photographer), traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad. A long time member of The International Alliance of Equestrian Journalists, De Rosa covered the Olympic Games in 1988 Seoul, Korea, 1992 in Barcelona, Spain (for USA Today), 1996 in Atlanta, Georgia, 2000 in Sydney, Australia, 2004 in Athens, Greece and 2008 in China. She also covered every World Equestrian Games, including the 2006 WEG in Aachen Germany. De Rosa has also covered numerous World Cups including the 2006 Show Jumping World Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her PR Company, Press Link, works with a number of clients including doing the advance promotion to the equine world for 20th Century Fox for their movie “Flicka.” She also worked with DreamWorks for their films “Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron” and “Dreamer: Inspired by a True Story.” Some of her past and present clients include the Washington International Horse Show, The Manhattan Mortgage Company, the American Hunter-Jumper Foundation, the Hampton Classic Horse Show, WEG Holland, WEG Italy, DreamWorks, 20th Century Fox, IPE Realty, Monty Roberts and others. De Rosa worked with the renowned Christopher Reeve as his Road Manager for eight years from 1997 until his passing in October of 2004. That same year she received the USEF’s Photography of the year award for one of her Athens Olympic photos. Diana continues her devotion to helping people with disabilities and presently works with Brooke Ellison, Stony Brook, NY, a ventilator dependent quad. Ellison’s story was the subject of the last movie Reeve directed. Diana also does some TV and radio reporting as well as voiceovers. For ten years, she co-hosted the annual Hampton Classic on the local Hamptons TV Station WVVH. She enjoys bringing life to her many stories through her comments, camera and keyboard.
