Jim Oltersdorf: "Giant Bear Attack" from Alaska's History Channel Photographer

Highly acclaimed as an aviation photographer/writer for the nation’s largest pilot magazines, his well-rounded talents also take him to the bottom of the ocean (he is a graduate of the college of Oceaneering with a certificate in air-mixed gas deep underwater diving). Along with his work in the extreme high-risk areas of photography,
Oltersdorf is widely known for his work in ornithology, and mammals. Jim was licensed to care for raptors. He also works for some of the largest companies in the United States with emphasis in creating on-location product photography in the wilds of the Yukon and Alaska currently. When Michael Hart got his first paying photo assignment, Lyndon Johnson was still in the White House, Buffalo Springfield was just getting started, and The Beatles ruled the modern world. That was back in the era of photographic darkrooms, black-and-white film, and manual cameras. Back in the halcyon heyday of the space program and the analog world. Now it's all state-of-the-art digital photography and techniques. There's a different Texan in the Oval Office and he's a conservative Republican. John and George are dead and gone, and Neil Young's still going strong, pushing in new and different directions. As is Hart. His images of people and places have graced the pages of Communication Arts and Print's Regional Design Annual. His work has been honored by The Dallas Society of Visual Communications, The Houston Addy awards, and The Art Director's Club of Houston shows.
