Mr. Levy, Chairman of one of the most dynamic Chapter of Republicans Abroad, speaks to RA Radio on the vicissitudes of Spain; for instance, the fate of the Spanish version of the “Occupy Movement: Los Indignados,” Mr. Levy comments that it seems to have fizzled out, as evidenced in the 200 or 300 demonstrators present in Madrid on May 1st, its one year anniversary..." Mr. Levy notes how the project of the European Union could be on the verge of "blowing apart," as a result of the economic debacles in Spain, Italy and Greece,( that familiar “piling more and more debt..)" For Mr. Levy, Spain has been in many ways politically ahead of the US (in Socialist green energy programs, perhaps?) and also has to get the deficit under control.." Regarding the Franco-German alliance and the negative historical connotation of pitting the north against the south, Mr. Levy speaks of Greece's "unpleasant experience in WWII, when 10% of its population was decimated," and the "unfortunate references" today, against an industrialized and hard-working nation like Germany. Mr. Levy calls attention to the fact that there was a time when European countries bought each other's debts, but not so today... contributing to the political and economical instability...Spain is in crisis, and as always, there are separatist movements like the Catalans, ..."
Are there parallels between Spain and the US? For Mr. Levy, there is a growing sense that "Spain has lost control of its destiny...If rescued by the European Central Bank, Spain has to allow [outsiders] German specialists to go through its [financial] books-and in a sense, slowly but surely losing its "sovereignty." And for him the "balancing of the budget," is paramount to national security...and is critical of the Obama Administration for not focusing on the real problem: our debt. On the French elections and M. Hollande's win, Mr. Levy's uttering "Uff!" is self-explanatory…He reveals his dissatisfaction with the Socialist's first proclamation to reduce the work week in France and which would increase the price of labor. Questioning Mr. Obama's fascination with all things socialist, Mr. Levy echoes Governor Jindal's recent comment that Mr. Obama has no idea about job creation since he never even managed a "lemonade stand.." Mr. Levy speaks of the great interest by the Spanish media on the US elections and what RA is doing to GOTV: focusing on the July 4th celebrations at the American Club and the debates planned with Democrats Abroad (“who are keeping a rather low profile, this time around..")
A lawyer by profession and talk show host, Mr. Sekulow is the ED of Policy and International Operations for the ACLJ. Mr. Sekulow speaks to RARadio on the many chapters that ACLJ has throughout the US and the world, including Russia, Zimbabwe, Israel, South Korea, Pakistan etc. The Mission of the organization, is “focusing on U.S. constitutional law, European Union law and human rights law, the ACLJ and its affiliated organizations are dedicated to the concept that freedom and liberty are universal, God-given and inalienable rights that must be protected.” It has been involved in challenging Obamacare, and the confirmation of Supreme Court Justices Roberts and Alito… Mr. Sekulow describes the activities of the chapter in Israel and speaks of the plight of the Palestinian Christians.
Mr. Sekulow comments on Youcef Nadarkhani, the Iranian Christian pastor who apparently has not received the same kind of media attention that say, China’s Chen Guancheng ? What’s next for Youcef? Mr. Romney speaks of a strained relation with Iran, different from China. Since 1979, there has been no relation, Youcef’s case is unique… The US government working through countries like Brazil which have relations with Iran…Mr. Sekulow mentions the letter his organization received on Monday and the difficult case of the political dissidents, and especially Youcef’s lawyer who has been recently disbarred and is facing a possible conviction of 9 years in jail…Mr. Sekulow explains why his organization supports SB1070, the Arizona bill that has been so “demonized” and which is not about racial profiling at all, but rather the enforcing of existing federal law…

05/09/12 - Voting Absentee. Requirements & Procedures
The View from Abroad. France's Left Turn. Stu Haugen, former Chair RA France Former Chair of RA France Stu Haugen speaks to RARadio on the elections in France; the not so suave exit of M. Sarkozy and the entrance, after more than 27 years, of a socialist, M. Hollande to the Presidency of France. Mr. Haugen who has lived in France for many years and knows the political atmosphere in that country quite well, notes that the electorate was "throwing out the incumbent," and although the newsmedia outlets were claiming that the election of M. Hollande was a "rejection of the austerity" measures, Mr. Haugen explains that "nobody [was] cutting back, and that France was, and is, a "socialist" country, even under "Conservative governments." He points to M. Sarkozy's "abrasive character, his dismissal of public opinion, his distant demeanor, with no connection to the people," and compares him to our own "Emperor Obama.." For him, the electorate felt that "life was no good," and therefore,"threw [all] the bums out..." And in speaking of Socialist France, Mr. Haugen recalls Francoise Mitterrand, "how eventually he reversed track, shifting toward privatization..." And M. Sarkozy, "did not win the public's favor, with his glamorous wife and lifestyle;...the politics were right, but the style was wrong...he mismanaged his personal style..." As for M. Hollande, Mr. Haugen, affirms that he is a man "who has lived in the shadows of his party,..." an "unknown"....
Stu Haugen comments on the dire economic outlook of France and the fact that "nobody was telling the truth." When asked what were the commentaries in the press and Media of the upcoming elections in the US and the candidates, Mr. Haugen explains that the French were "self focused" in the last few months, concentrating on the outcome of their own (political and economic) destiny...but insists that some parallels can be drawn between the countries,...and points to the many polls that distort the reality of the situation, and comments, that anyone who disagrees with the [President] is viewed/perceived/described as a racist..." For Mr.Haugen , Mr. Obama has been engaged in his "re-election campaign from day ONE," and agrees that Mr. Romney will be the "Business Doctor" that will have to repair the disasters of this Administration...
Captain Sam Wright is know in "military circles for his efforts (began in 1976) to reform absentee voting laws and procedures for the benefit of military and overseas voters..." Captain Wright comments on how he took the issue of the "absentee voting " to heart when in 1976, then Rep. Ron Paul, for whom he was working, lost in the general election. The 300 or so, absentee ballots (needed) that were received on the day after the election, were not counted because of a technicality. He realized then, how people overseas could be disenfranchised: ballots, which had to be printed after primaries, could not/would not be mailed on time...To this day, the mailing of Absentee Ballots remains an issue, a cause for the "disenfranchisement" of overseas military and civilians. Capt. Wright speaks of UOCAVA, the bill passed in 1976 that guaranteed the right to vote for citizens living overseas in Federal elections, whether they were outside the country, temporarily or permanently. The Move Act, enacted in 2009, an Amendment to UOCAVA, is enforceable: States must have Absentee Ballots sent at least 45 days before election dates (primaries included) Capt. Wright points that the late mailing of ballots has been the "recurring" issue for at least 60 years, dating to the Congressional hearings on the subject during the Korean War.. It was after the 2000 election that absentee voting became relevant, again...remember the Chads? Capt. Wright explains the different offices within the States that are responsible for ensuring that overseas citizens receive their ballots. In Alaska, Maine, "DC", for example, Absentee Ballots are administered at State level; in the 48 remaining states, the absentee ballots are administered by counties, parishes, towns?... And, just Wisconsin, has circa 1800 local election offices...which have to ensure, by law, that Absentee ballots are sent 45 days prior to the election to citizens of that State and whether they are missionaries in Sudan, or military in Afghanistan...
Capt. Wright explains the procedures for voting from overseas. Prior to 2009, one postcard application for registering to vote sufficed for 2 election cycles. Since the Move Act, registration to vote must be done on a yearly basis. And he encourages people to go to the FVAP.gov and follow the online wizard to complete the forms and notes that the absentee voter must fill in the address where he/she last resided town, county, State), even if the person no longer has a residence, and must include the address overseas. Capt. Wright reminds the absentee voter to pay attention to the requirements of completing a full ballot (for federal, state and local offices) and the ballot for federal offices only. If applying for a full ballo,t Capt. Wright recommends that the voter overseas receive legal advice from an American lawyer/official to make sure that they are in compliance with that State Tax laws' . In concluding the interview, Capt. Wright recommends voters to utilize the FVAP wizard and mentions what the Voting Action Officer at the State Department confirmed in a recent teleconference, that the US Consulates and American Embassies overseas will accept ballots from US Citizens in their premises, to be transported back to the US by the diplomatic pouch. To Vote from Overseas requires a simple procedure: 1) Request a ballot from your County Board of Elections in the State you last resided... 2) The election official sends to the voter the "unmarked ballot," 3) the Voter must mark the ballot and send it back to the local election official where he/she last resided...And, as to internet voting, Capt. Wright dismisses it as " not secure," a venue of opportunity, for hackers to change the markings and cause... a change you can believe in...transforming... the outcome of an election!

Susan E. Carleson, Chairman, CEO of ACRU speaks to RARadio about the mision of the organization, which was "the brain child of her husband, Bob Carleson...and one that would take on the ACLU..." assembling "brain power," with the likes of Attorney General Edwin Meese, Ken Starr and Judge Robert Bork on its Board. The organization, since 1996, has been filing briefs, 35-40 cases, to curb the "leftist drift of society..." Ms. Carleson speaks of the many "amicus briefs" filed over the years, especially the one defending Arizona (Immigration law),challenging Obamacare and protecting religious rights as in the Mount Soledad Cross case in San Diego. Recently, the ACRU urged the Supreme Court to adopt a "coercion test" to protect religious freedom and Ms. Carleson explains why this is important. Another important project in which she is now involved has to do with VOTER FRAUD and the initiative is called" Protect Your Vote.us, allowing citizens to learn about the prevailing rules in their State, and encouraging them to get involved in the process by acting as volunteers, poll watchers, etc....Ms. Carleson also speaks of the "Carleson Center for Public Policy" that she founded in honor of her late husband, who first worked for Presiden Reagan in 1971 when he was Governor, and who became the "standard bearer" of welfare reform for California and, in 1996, for the rest of the country, "turning [the country] around from socialism, a detrimental system..." What would Reagan do? Ms. Carleson explains that it was Sean Hannity, who was asking this question in his program and it inspired her to start the organization...to " to take up entitlement reform and tax policies, to advocate and advance the Reagan philosophy...which was limited government; returning power to the States .." The Center will now tackle, a Medicaid Bill...
Congressman Randy Forbes, a lawyer by profession with a long career in public service in his State was also Chairman of the Virginia Republican Party from 1996-2001. Congressman Forbes is on the Judiciary Committee and the Committee on Armed Services and as Chairman of the House Armed Services Readiness Subcommittee. A framed copy of the Declaration of Independence hangs in his office, "a reminder of our rights, that come directly from our Creator...,our country anchored in four great pillars,..."he explains. Congressman Forbes speaks of his "New Manhattan Project for Energy" and his dedication in helping Seniors by requesting "increased investment into medical research," in the Patients First Act and that more dollars should be allocated to research of Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and Diabetes. Mr. Forbes discusses Obamacare and its treatment of religious groups and remarks that what should be noted is not whether the excercise of faith offends anybody but rather whether its probihibition...does? A strong supporter of a Balanced Budget Amendment, Mr. Forbes explains, that it would help control "government spending." Congressman Forbes speaks of the Obama Administration's cuts on defense and how it is going to affect America's national security... A message to Republicans Abroad? ....Mr. Forbes calls them Great Ambassadors, who are proud of their country and encourages them to register to vote and vote...
Congressman Jeff Miller is Member of the House Armed Services Committee and Chairman of the Committee on Veterans' Affairs. He is also a Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and Vice Chairman of the Subcommittee on Transatlantic Defense and Security Cooperation, NATO Parliamentary Assembly... Congressman Jeff Miller comments on the budget cuts that the Department of Veterans Affairs is facing at the end of the year and gives his opinion on the OMB's (Office of Management & Budget) decision to exempt it from sequestration by calling attention to the Presiden't purely "political calculation," in waiting until the last minute and upon receipt of a letter by the OMB, to claim that VA were exempt from cuts... He also calls "unconscionable," the backlog of ca.900,000 claims that have been delayed by the Obama Administration, and all because of an "antiquated system," within the VA, a large bureacracy of 300,000 individuals...Mr. Miller speaks of the priorities that should be noted, especially to those veterans suffering of mental health and calls for them to be treated better, and urges the Department to bring help closer to their communities instead of forcing them to travel great distances to get help... l Congressman Miller speaks of his District and its military bases and installations, and the consequences that an early pullout of Afghanistan will have. For him, the "soft power" that is being employed by the Obama Administration will not have a "lasting effect," He strongly believes in empowering the Afghan Security and giving "flexibility" to our troops on the ground, not keeping them "hand tied.."
As a Member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, M. Miller speaks of the Annual Intelligence Authorization Act and CISPA (Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA), passed by the House on April 26,2012 with bipartisan support despite Veto threat) to encourage companies and the federal government to share information collected on the Internet to prevent electronic attacks from cybercriminals, foreign governments and terrorists..." Congressman Miller speaks of the TSA and legislation he authored to send unclaimed monies ($400,000+) to the USO instead of supplementing the TSA's own budget... Mr. Miller also comments on the Secret service scandals and points to the lack of "leadership..." For Republicans Abroad, Mr. Miller speaks of the "great consequences" that the Novemeber election will have.... that our future may well depend on those Absentee ballots...

He mentiones a product which he has created and which he calls “election novelty,” a type of (Babushka) wooden bank with the figure of President Obama…allowing its owner “to decide what he thinks of the President’s policies towards Iran by affixing stickers to it…” What type of “change” is Obama’s bank giving you?... Mr. Braunstein notes that it is nothing else but the “wrong change,” since President Obama “has a total misunderstanding of the Middle East…the threat is the extremism of Islam…”

03/21/12 - Clean Energy. Science and Facts.
Andrea Bozek speaks to RARadio on the second anniversary of Obamacare, the President’s signature legislation and for which he plans no celebrations! Ms. Bozek comments on the Supreme Court hearings on the “individual mandate,” scheduled for March 26-28. Ms. Bozek points to the effects that the legislation will have on small businesses and notes that Americans, at least 2/3 of the country, reject it outright. When asked about the goals of the NRCC during the election cycle, she replied: …”making OBAMACARE an issue.” For her, it is “hurting the economy, creating uncertainty.” Ms. Bozek also speaks of the Keystone Pipeline and the failed Clean Energy projects (Solyndra), and mentions the loss of thousands of jobs…, as a result of the president, “kowtowing to his extreme base.”
Mr. Backer, who was the lead “counsel in the groundbreaking 2011 case, ‘Carey vs. FEC’ which relieved Pacs of some restrictions on accepting contributions,” speaks to RARadio of his helping “pro bono” many of the Tea Party organizations, and specifically The TeaParty.net. And he explains how the IRS has been targeting more than 100 conservative grass roots organizations, while only one single democrat (Obama’ Super pac). Mr. Backer comments on the letter sent to the IRS on March 14 by Republican Senators in which they plead to the IRS commissioner that the agency stop exerting pressure on the tea parties. That pressure consists in the IRS asking the small grassroots organizations to identify and disclose (while not required) the names of all donors and contributors and making it difficult for them to apply for 501 (c) 4 status. Mr. Backer explains the difference between Pacs and Super Pacs and how they are affecting the election process. “For the first time, the two-party system , has seen the eruption of third party committees, that with resources, can influence and engage in the political process and[ ultimately], more voters have a say…”

For Mr. Nesbit the discussion has turned economic and political. For him, the focus should be on how we transition from using fossil fuels to clean energy. And he explains that at the turn of the century at least 1million persons worked in the coal mines while today, 70,000 have “desk offices” with only 17,000 miners…Mr. Nesbit notes that the extraction of oil is limited and that moving to clean energy, solar, is preferable…
Mr. Nesbit, speaks of his book “Peace” written several years ago where he describes the Israel-Iran conflict (with the latter being attacked by the former)-something which could happen any day… Mr. Nesbit affirms Iran’s nuclear intentions and points that evidence of nuclear weapons is there. The Book “Oil,” to be released June 1, also mentions plausible scenarios, (where any of the Oil producing countries in the ME, were to be attacked), the “shock produced would be something we have never seen…, with big surges in oil prices,” and detrimental effects on the world economies… Mr. Nesbit also comments on Science education, the young, and the competition . He notes how important it is that young people continue their interest in the “hard sciences” after middle school, and speaks of the series of Children’s books he is writing… A third book “Temple,” is also in the works and will deal with the Temple Mount and the three religions that have a claim to it…

03/14/12 - Elections 2012. Republican Primary Series
Robert J. (Bob) Horn, a partner with the Washington law firm of Patton Boggs, and legal Counsel of Republicans Abroad, speaks to RA Radio about the Republican primary contests. Mr. Horn is well known as former Chairman, and now Chairman Emeritus, of the National Republican Lawyers Association, a crucial player in the 2000 election in Florida. He has served in all Republican Administrations, beginning in 1976 with President Ford. As a Washington insider for more than 40 years, Mr. Horn explains this long and arduous primary process…, and speaks of the “impact on Republicans and on Republicans Abroad” that these contests are having, and once finished, they will have sparked “the motivation and ability for Republicans Abroad, to get involved.” In regards to the Republican Primaries in Alabama and Mississippi held on Tuesday , March 13th, Mr. Horn comments on the results and what it means for the candidates (Santorum, in first place, Gingrich second, Romney, third, and Paul, fourth.) For Mr. Horn these results prove that “Mr. Romney, (who holds the largest number of declared delegates), did not have a good night.” And, “one reason for this, is that Mr. Romney is not reaching or connecting with the base of the Republican Party.” Mr. Santorum and his ‘mining parentage’ values echoed with the voters . Mr. Horn also explains that Mr. Romney was not given credit for the “spectacular” wins of Super Tuesday (March 6th) when he won 6 out of 10 primaries. Mr. Horn concludes the interview by noting that “the Race is not decided yet" and there may still be a “brokered convention” because none of the candidates will have the 1144 votes needed for the nomination,” if the process continues in this way…
Sharon Goessling speaks to RA Radio on the important cases and issues that the Southeastern Legal Foundation, a non profit organization, founded in 1976 and which “advocates limited government, individual freedom, free enterprise system” is defending “in the Courts of law and public opinion.” The SLF has won “landmark Supreme Court decisions protecting private property and free speech...”and, the SLF is one of the organizations suing the Environmental Protection Agency to block its efforts to regulate green house gases…” Ms. Goessling speaks of her recent participation (February 28-29) in the oral arguments against the EPA’s actions in front of the US Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia. “A “tough,”two day presentation on all the issues. Ms. Goessling gives background information on the case and explains how (and why)the “EPA re-wrote the Clean Air Act passed by Congress in 2007,” the explanation of which was not “very well received by the 3 judge panel.” For Ms. Goessling there are “two national litigation cases that will end up in the US Supreme Court, Obamacare and the EPA.” The public should be aware that the “EPA’s regulatory scheme will have no effect on global climate, 4 million jobs will be lost if implemented, and the costs will be extraordinary, above $1 trillion.”
Ms. Goessling speaks of her organization's involvement in many cases, for example, the one against President Clinton, its lawyers filing " the initial complaint with the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Professional Conduct, seeking disciplinary measures for lying under oath and obstructing justice in a federal trial. SLF litigated the matter before the Arkansas Supreme Court, which unanimously held that disciplinary proceedings must proceed. SLF efforts resulted in President Clinton surrendering his law license while in office, later affirmed as disbarment in the U.S. Supreme Court...." Ms. Goessling is adamant that "we will prevail in the case (against the EPA) and notes that Congress can correct this, by defunding the EPA...." She also calls attention to President Obama's Administration complete disregard for the "law and intent of Congress..."
