Peggy Smedley talks about some of the new ways M2M technology is being used in the medical industry. One company is working on the development of a “smart pill” embedded with a small computer chip that can send alerts to doctors when a patient has ingested the pill. Another company in the space is taking remote monitoring to another level by launching a pilot which will enable doctors to remotely monitor the vital signs of patients with congestive heart Failure.;
Eddie Mora, customer service manager for Best Buy located in Union Square in New York City, joins the show to talk to Smedley about what types of connected devices consumers are interested in. He also talks about the training Best Buy employees go through to ensure they have the answers to their customers’ questions.;

Smedley and Mike Carrozzo, chief editor, M2M magazine, discuss the ongoing partnership between Best Buy and Ford and how the two companies are expanding a pilot program to various locations throughout the U.S. As part of the project, SYNC-enabled vehicles are located in the parking lots of Best Buy stores, giving customers the ability to see the technology firsthand and receive a rundown of the system from onsite Ford staff members.
