She also gives some statistics to further illustrate the direction of the market. Smedley also discusses how the iPad could become a familiar tool among doctors in the healthcare space.;
Chris Hill, vice president of mobility product development, AT&T, discusses AT&T’s role in the energy market, specifically the work the company is doing with utilities such as enabling the transfer of data back and forth between the utilities and individual meters. Seth Frader-Thompson, CEO, EnergyHub, talks about his company’s wireless dashboard which helps consumers measure, monitor, and manage their in-home energy consumption. Smedley and Mike Carrozzo, chief editor, M2M magazine, cover some wireless fitness devices which can help make it easier to keep track of progress during and after your workout. One of the devices they talk about can track vital information on body movement throughout the day such as total steps taken or sleep quality. They also discuss a device that ‘coaches’ you during a run to keep you in line with a targeted heart rate, as well as a watch which collects data on your workout and wirelessly transmits it to the Web when within range of a computer.
