Peggy Smedley discusses a new connected device from Sony called the Dash and how it expands on another device already on the market called the Chumby to include additional features. She also talks about the new location-based status updates on Facebook and how McDonald’s will potentially use the location information to advertise to users, plus allow them to use McDonald’s product information in their status updates.;
Kevin Johnson, director of PPD Embedded Connected Devices, Intel Embedded & Communications Group, joins the show to discuss the specific role that Intel plays in the M2M space as well as some of Intel’s overall objectives in the market. He also describes how the market for embedded connectivity has changed since Intel first entered the space more than 30 years ago.;
Kevin Johnson, director of PPD Embedded Connected Devices, Intel Embedded & Communications Group, describes some of the fragmentation Intel is seeing in the current marketplace as well as some of the issues Intel is looking to solve in terms of connectivity. He also explains some of the types of technologies needed to complete the value chain for M2M solutions.;
Smedley and Mike Carrozzo, chief editor, Connected World magazine, talk about some of the newest updates in the ereader space including Borders’ plans to launch its own ereader device, the Kobo, and another ereader soon to hit the space from iRiver that comes equipped with “easy Wi-Fi” connectivity. They also discussed Google’s recent announcement that the company will be launching its own digital book store later this year.
