Peggy Smedley discusses a new tablet device being released to the market by Cisco, which is aimed specifically at enterprise customers and not the consumer segment of the space like other popular tablets. Smedley also discusses a recent study focused on connected health with results indicating that the use of connected technology (in the form of a smart prescription bottle cap) was actually helping consumers to improve their medication compliance.;
Tom Evangelisti, president of wireless health, VOCEL, talks about his company’s mobile phone application, The Pill Phone, and how it can help consumers keep track of when to take their medication and can also inform caretakers if users are not complying with their schedules. Evangelisti also discussed some of the other medication information users have access to with The Pill Phone.;
John Knab, chairman, My911, describes how the My911 mobile application offers consumers GPS, automatic updates, accident response, and more, all on the same application. He explains how the application uses a smartphone’s accelerometer to determine if the user has been in some type of an accident, based on g-force levels.;
Peggy Smedley, and Mike Mara, associate producer, The Peggy Smedley Show, discuss the ongoing war taking place among the vendors in the ereader space. They talked about the release of a new device from a well-known name in the world of books and how it may have caused a number of competitors to slash their prices. They also discussed the impact that tablets with more features like the iPad have on the eReader market.
