Smedley also talked about the issues holding back smart meter implementations in the United States and how utilities need to make the benefits of the smart grid visible to consumers in order to get them to stand behind the technology.;
Laurie Lamberth, independent industry analyst, discusses her new research paper on the definition behind “the Internet of things” and the impact of the technology on our lives now and in the future. She also talks about some of the privacy and security issues that are being associated with the use of technology such as RFID.;
Bruce Wilson, chief operating officer, AFrame Digital Inc., discusses the company’s MobileCare Monitor (MCM) and how it provides piece of mind to those wearing it as well as their caretakers. He describes the device’s capabilities as well as the types of incidents that can trigger an automatic alert from the device to a caretaker.;

They discuss some of the additional statistics highlighted in the Pew survey and the dangers associated with texting and driving, as well as how many Americans admit to being guilty of it.
