Tom Davies, President, V. Sattui Winery of St. Helena, has been on the same job for 30 years! That's rare these days. In 1976, Dario Sattui, great-grandson, reopened V. Sattui Winery, originally of San Francisco, as the 46th winery in the Napa Valley to come back to life after Prohibition. Dario Sattui founded the St. Helena winery on direct-to-consumer sales, eschewing the traditional three-tier system of national distribution. They farm 75 percent of what they produce.... a significant statement on its own. There's something for every palate, from dry to sweet, red/rosé, white and blue, still and sparkling.

Moya Shatz has been living and working as the Executive Director of the Idaho Grape Growers & Wine Producers Commission based out of Caldwell for under one year. In that time period, the state has witnessed eight new wineries opening their doors. Despite the slump in the economy, Idaho grape growing and winemaking are on a positive surge with 40 wineries and an additional 20 vineyards devoted exclusively to growing grapes.
